Motorists will be detoured around the construction areas as required but the majority of the downtown will be open and available for business as usual. Shoppers and business customers are reminded that parking is always available in the Spring Street Parking Deck at Chicago Street and Spring Street, in the Fulton Street Parking Deck, one block east of Spring Street on Fulton Street and in the Civic Center Lot on the north side of Highland Avenue from Douglas Avenue to Grove Avenue. Pedestrian accessibility will be maintained throughout the construction operation.

The City of Elgin has invested in a 6-year, $40 million Downtown Streetscape Improvement Project to replace all the curbs, sidewalks, water mains and resurface all the streets in the central business district.
