The Elgin Bicycle Safety Campaign works to inspire more biking in Elgin this summer by educating residents on safe bicycling and creating more opportunities for you to do so. The goal is to increase awareness and safety for bicyclists, motorists and pedestrians on Elgin's streets and trails.
The Campaign includes:
- Elgin's very own team of Bicycling Ambassadors! The Bicycling Ambassadors are a team of bike safety specialists that provide outreach and education on a variety of bicycle-related topics like fitting a helmet or the best biking routes. Look for them at Elgin's festivals and events throughout the summer. You can invite the Ambassadors to your Elgin event - call 312.427.3325 x238 for more information.
- Elgin By Bike - Elgin By Bike is a program that encourages the residents to visit local business through incentives that reward shopping trips made by bike. Watch for Elgin By Bike at a business near you.
- Safety publications - Pamphlets on everything from sharing the road with bicyclists to proper helmet use will be available on this website soon.
